GreenWood, Inc., was recently presented with the McGriff Workplace Safety Excellence Award for achieving excellence in safety performance throughout the company. Issued by McGriff Insurance Services, this prestigious award is reserved only for companies who achieve outstanding overall safety performance based on workers’ compensation policy loss ratio, workers’ compensation experience modification (EMR), and BLS/DART/OSHA recordable incident rate. GreenWood has now earned this award for a 10th consecutive year and is the first company to achieve this level of recognition.

“We take great pride in recognizing and celebrating GreenWood as the ‘best of the best’ in receiving this elite award and the first company to receive the 10 Year Workplace Safety Excellence Award,” says Warren Blanchard, McGriff Insurance Services. “McGriff is proud to acknowledge GreenWood’s accomplishment and commends them for their consistent focus on providing a safe and healthy environment for their employees.”

Mike Simmons, Corporate Director of Safety for GreenWood adds, “Our project teams start every day by reviewing safety standards and best practices that apply directly to the work being performed. This is engrained in our culture as we emphasize safety in every aspect of our projects with an ongoing commitment to zero incidents. Safety is our number one priority at all times.”

GE Team Addresses COVID-19

Our GE Power project site team in Greenville has been instrumental in keeping the facility safe and open during these unfamiliar times. In response to their hard work, GE expressed their appreciation to Team GreenWood and requested a group picture of all participating members supporting the COVID-19 initiatives and activities. The group is shown in front of the “GE Meatball” sign that will soon be installed above the main entrance to the building.

Those shown in the picture include GreenWood and GE employees who have sanitized break areas, cafeterias, vending machines with parts and supplies, turnstiles, and other areas as identified multiple times per day. This team has also assisted with setting up the new temperature scanning areas, modified break areas, and worked with others to support social distancing. They have sanitized the entire office facilities on two separate occasions along with many other jobs.

A big “thank you” and “job well done” for the great work this amazing team has performed! We appreciate their exceptional efforts during such unusual times.

Dow Holds Annual Safety Fair at WVO

GreenWood participated in the annual Dow safety fair at our West Virginia Operations (WVO) project site in South Charleston. The event is held each year to emphasize safety awareness at work and away from the job.  Emily Kinnison, Mike Simmons, Jason Strickland and Cam Clendenin represented GreenWood at this year’s event.

GreenWood joined employees, vendors and numerous contractors at the event where safety materials and promotional products were distributed.  The safety fair reinforces the importance of safety and why it is always a top priority.  GreenWood’s “Always Aware” program is emphasized to underscore best safety practices in all project work with the goal of zero incidents.
