GreenWood, Inc. has once again been recognized with the McGriff Workplace Safety Excellence Award for its outstanding safety performance across the organization. The award is presented to companies that demonstrate exceptional overall safety results, as measured by key performance indicators including workers’ compensation policy loss ratio, workers’ compensation experience modification rate (EMR), and BLS/DART/OSHA recordable incident rates.

This marks the 16th consecutive year GreenWood has received the award—an achievement that underscores the company’s long-standing commitment to maintaining a strong safety culture and protecting the well-being of its workforce. GreenWood stands alone as the only company to have achieved this distinction for 16 consecutive years.

Nyyaa Plume Earns OSHA Certification

Congratulations to Nyyaa Plume from our project location in Elkton, Virginia, for successfully passing the OSHA 510 (Occupational Safety and Health Standards for Construction Industry). The OSHA 510 is core training for construction safety professionals, covering OSHA standards, policies, procedures, and hazard identification in construction. As a result, Nyyaa has been promoted to Safety Officer. Great work, Nyyaa!

GreenWood is the only company to achieve this level of recognition for a 15th consecutive year.

GreenWood Scores 99.82 Safety Rating

Through our association with Captive Resources (CRI), we recently completed a successful risk control assessment which is a structured process for evaluating, prioritizing, and mitigating potential safety risks. We are proud to announce that we achieved an overall score of 99.82, ranking us as having one of the safest programs in the industry.

The assessment process involves an in-depth review of risk control policies and procedures compared to industry best practices. The risk control assessment helps identify strength and improvement opportunities that are used to create action plans that improve our overall best-in-class “always aware” safety program. This is one of the many ways we make GreenWood a safe place to work!

GreenWood, Inc. is proud to announce that it has been awarded the Highwire Platinum Safety Award for its continuous project work at Merck in Elkton, Virginia. This prestigious award is a reflection of GreenWood’s ongoing commitment to safety and outstanding results each year at this project. GreenWood’s “Always Aware” safety program is integrated with Merck’s safety standards to create an exceptionally safe work environment for all employees. The Platinum Safety Award is the highest honor awarded by Highwire.

The Highwire Safety Assessment reviews a company’s historic safety performance and current safety management systems. The program includes a thorough, objective and consistent evaluation of company performance so that clients and contractors can identify, monitor, and manage risk smarter. The results provide a strong indicator of how a contractor values safety and serves a reliable predictor of future performance. GreenWood received an average of 99 out of 100 for every trade category with zero discrepancies, and no identified weaknesses.

The team at GreenWood’s home office recently completed a CPR and First Aid training course led by Greenville Health & Safety. The course covered the key aspects of CPR with hands-on instruction along with mock scenarios that taught proper first aid applications so that employees know how to respond and care for medical emergencies at work. GreenWood personnel also experienced instructor-led training for automated external defibrillator (AED) usage. This type of training is conducted as part of GreenWood’s “Always Aware” safety program which emphasizes the health, safety, and well-being of all employees at the job site, office, or at home. At GreenWood, we believe that employees who think and act safely…are safe!

Mona Lopez recently joined GreenWood’s home office accounting team in Greenville, South Carolina where she is responsible for processing the weekly payroll, daily cash management, accounts payable, and accounts receivable. She also handles client billings according to established schedules. Mona brings an extensive background within the financial field that spans accounting workflows for accounts payable, contract labor payment, financial statement preparation, budgeting and cash controls. She has spent the past 25 years in various financial roles in numerous market sectors since earning her Bachelor of Arts degree.
