Meet Our GreenWood Management Team:

John Wood, CEO

John has spent his entire career over the past 40 years in industrial maintenance and construction services.  A graduate of Furman University, he was the senior executive at Fluor Daniel over one of the world's largest maintenance and plant services contractors for over 20 years, having progressed from "folding blueprints" on a project site to Group President over 8,000 employees.  In 1990, John began GreenWood Inc. and has built the company to a 700+ employee operation, with continuous maintenance services and capital construction projects in seven states (SC, NC, GA, AL, MS, VA, & WV).  The Wood family maintains private ownership of the company today.  The company has been successful due to his hands-on style of customer-centered and employee-dedicated management. Since the beginning, John's four enduring company goals have been:

Brad Wood, President

Brad has been with GreenWood for more than 16 years, joining the company upon graduation from the University of Georgia.  His initial employment for eight years was spent learning field operations and customer relations at project sites where he quickly assumed the role of site manager for a major pharmaceutical client project.  As part of the company succession plan, Brad moved into the Greenville headquarters in 2002 to assume general management responsibilities for multiple projects and advance toward succeeding John Wood as CEO upon his retirement.  Brad is a Certified Instructor and Master Trainer by the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER).

Chris Hemmings, Chief Financial Officer

Chris has more than 25 years of financial expertise having served in the fields of auditing, accounting and project finance both domestically and internationally.  His background includes employment with Fluor, Engelhard, Biltmore Farms and Glade Holdings.  Within these organizations, Chris held the positions of finance manager, controller and CFO.  For GreenWood, Chris is responsible for enhancing, maintaining and managing all corporate financial systems including oversight of the administrative accounting team at GreenWood.  Originally from Alabama, Chris is a Clemson University graduate and remains an avid Clemson fan.

Laura Lipscomb, Vice President, Benefits

Laura has been with GreenWood since 1998 and has nearly 20 years experience in administration management.  Prior to GreenWood, Laura spent several years with Metromont Materials in a payroll capacity.  As a member of GreenWood’s management leadership team, Laura is responsible for the entire company benefits program which includes medical, dental, vision, disability, voluntary term life, and AD&D.  Additionally, Laura is responsible for managing the company’s 401(k) plan.  She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from USC-Spartanburg (now USC-Upstate). 

Eric Burnette, Director, Sales & Marketing

Eric brings a sales career to GreenWood spanning nearly 20 years.  His experience includes sales of outsourced maintenance and asset management for industrial facilities as well as ERP software solutions designed for manufacturers.  Additionally, Eric is Six Sigma trained and is a Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional (CMRP).  He leads all sales and business development activities centered on new business while cultivating existing client relationships, and is responsible for identifying project opportunities and implementing GreenWood’s overall strategic sales, business development and marketing initiatives. Eric is a graduate of Georgia College and State University.                   

Rick Phillips, Director, Maintenance & Construction Operations

Rick joined GreenWood more than 12 years ago bringing with him 30-plus years experience in maintenance and construction operations.  He holds an Associates Degree in Maintenance Technology and has extensive field experience ranging from Maintenance Mechanic and Planner/Scheduler to Maintenance Reliability Group Leader, Project Manager and Regional Manager.  While with Fluor Corporation, Rick was responsible for startup and turnover from construction to maintenance at one of the world’s largest medical training and patient care facilities, the King Abdulaziz Health Science Center in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.  His responsibilities at GreenWood include contract maintenance project management for numerous client projects. Rick is a NCCER Master Trainer with credentials and qualifications to train craft/technician instructors and oversee all training programs at GreenWood.

Robert "Willie" Williams, Business Unit Manager

Willie has been in the industrial construction and maintenance support business for over 35 years, having advanced through craft ranks to Project Manager on significant projects.  He was the Site Manager on the Merck & Co. project in Elkton, VA when GreenWood transitioned it from another contractor in 1990 (GreenWood's first project).  Willie continues to manage this project along with other projects in the region.

Carl Yost, Business Unit Manager and Quality Director

Carl is a Chemical Engineering graduate of the University of Alabama, has a Masters Degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Louisville, and is a Registered Professional Engineer in SC, GA, LA, and CO.  He was in chemical facility operations for 15 years prior to joining contractor organizations in the engineering and construction of industrial facilities.  Carl’s career responsibility has progressed from estimator to that as Division President with major contractor firms.  His management experience ranges from construction of major plant additions and equipment installation projects to building new industrial plants in the U.S. and abroad.  Carl has had a working relationship with John Wood for more than 30 years.
